I raised three children in Drew County and the Drew Central schools. Coming to DC to teach was like coming home! I started school at the age 5 in the red brick building that still stands on this campus. My three children are grown, with lives of their own. Between them, they have given me five gorgeous grandchildren. Life is good. Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Education from University of Arkansas at Monticello (Elementary 1-6) Masters in Education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville (Special Education K-12) Job Descriptions: I am the special education teacher for grades K-3. My students range from self-contained to one resource class period per day. Special education is an exceptionally rewarding field of education. I am fortunate to be in this school-and in this position. I |

Mrs. Ngar I was born on the big island of Hawaii and lived there until I married Leeman J. Ngar, who is from Dumas, Arkansas. We have three children: Jonathan Keith, Christopher Everett, and Jennifer Leilani who are all graduates from Drew Central. My hobbies include cooking, reading, collecting cookbooks, singing, collecting apples, and doing Hawaiian quilting. I attend First Baptist Church. I am a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, SEARK Reading Council, SIESTA ( Science Alliance ). My heart has been with Drew Central School since 1968, when Leeman had his first math teaching position. When the special education self-contained classroom became open I immediately accepted the position. This is my sixth year to teach. Although I work for the SEARK Co-op, I teach on the Drew Central Campus. Educational Background- I was educated on the Island of Hawaii and graduated from Honokaa High School. When my oldest son was a semester from graduating from Tulane University, I decided to go to college. I attended and received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Special Education and my Master’s of Education Degree in Elementary Education from UAM. I also attended NLU in Monroe, Louisiana, Majoring in communicative disorders. Job Descriptions: I am a special education teacher. My self-contained classroom consists of students who are mild to severely profound. They range from K-6th. I teach my students functional tings that will help them to get along in life. We sing, color, play outside, eat, and nap. We do a lot of hand-over-hand coloring. Sometimes I feed my students because they are not able to do it themselves. There is really no way I can describe my job. I guess I am “A jack of all trades and master of none”. A person needs to visit my classroom to have a complete understanding of what goes on. I love my students and keep a safe environment for them. Other: I have a CDL and drive a school bus in the afternoons. I enjoy doing this. My classroom is always open to the parents and I encourage them to stop in and visit us during the school. I enjoy going to workshops that will help me to better understand my students. I have two flower beds outside of our classroom for everyone to enjoy. “Life is like a box of chocolates-you never know what you are going to get”. I enjoy life and my work.
