First Grade

 

 

             Mrs. Mapp

My inertest is to promote literacy.  I love reading and enjoy children’s books.  I became  apart of the Drew Central staff in January, 1975.  I have taught first grade for the past twenty-eight years.  I enjoy this age children, they are very lovable and want to learn.   

Educational background- Graduate of Drew Central High School, class valedictorian. Graduate of UAM with a BSE degree in Elementary Education.  I have continued to grow though additional hours at UAM.

Job Descriptions:  I teach all subjects in the first grade classroom.  We have reading, math, handwriting, spelling, and Language Arts.  They enjoy learning. 

I am married. My husband is Director of Housekeeping at UAM.  I have two daughters.  I also have a son-in-law. I am currently the Site Coordinator for the Drew Central After School Program and President-elect of the Arkansas Reading Association.  I am currently preparing for the ARA Reading Conference in November.

 

 

 

      Mrs. Kim Wells

My hobbies include interior design and of course shopping.  Children are a very big interest to me.  I have been an employee of Drew Central for the past fourteen years. I like Drew Central for many reasons.  I like the closeness of faculty, nice facilities, and the school pride that is shown.  

Educational Background:  My educational background begins here at Drew Central.  I graduated high school at Drew Central.  I later attended the University of Monticello and received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  Several years later I received my Master’s degree in school counseling, grades K-12, from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.  

Job Descriptions:  I currently teach first grade.  The areas taught in first grade are reading, math, and writing.  Character Education is also a very important area for my classroom and firs grade.  I really love teaching first grade!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                                                             Mrs. Liz McRae

This is my first year teaching. I graduated from Drew Central High School in 2001. I then
went to UAM where I graduated in 2005 with a degree in Early Childhood/Special Education.
I have a great first grade team that has really helped my first year go well. I love working
at Drew Central because all of the people are great and it feels like home. I am married
 to Ryan McRae. He is a second grade teacher here at Drew Central. I love being outside,
 working in the yard and planting flowers.

I teach all areas of first grade, reading, writing and math. My favorite thing to teach
                                   is writing because each student has a unique idea.                                       

 

 

 

 

        Mrs. Bonnie Wilson (Cruce)

I am married to James Cruce. I have two daughter, Meredith Shirey, who works in the Lower Elementary office, and Whitney Wilson, who attends ASU.  I have one granddaughter, Rachel Shirey, who is in First Grade at Drew Central.
I have taught at Drew Central for 23 years. The first two years at Drew Central, I taught third grade for 14 years and this is my 8th years to teach first grade. Before coming to Drew Central, I taught 6 years at Bellaire Academy.

I enjoy sports, especially watching the Razorbacks play basketball and football. I also enjoy traveling. I have been the Pee Wee Basketball coordinator for nine years.

                Other Information:  I lived in Germany for a year.
