Drew Central Elementary 5th and 6th grade students recently performed the musical “Bebop with Aesop” by Michael and Jill Gallina. Messages in story and in song were conveyed to grades K-4 and other guests. Fables used in the performance included the following: The Frogs and the Well (look before you leap), The Ants and the Grasshopper (don’t put off until tomorrow), The Milkmaid (don’t count your chickens before they hatch), The Tortoise and the Hare (slow and steady wins the race), and The Boy Who Cried Wolf (honesty’s the best policy). Aesop’s fables give lots of opportunity for students to see examples of behaviors and attitudes that can contribute to their own personal character. |
